Optimize our life with systems science

This article shares some ideas I got from Jun Wu’s course 硅谷来信 on DeDao app.

According to systems science, there are two ways to optimize things, including our lives: define goals and get feedbacks.

Define goals

Rather than believing in some untrue stories and model what to do from the heros, it is better to learn ideas. We can learn ideas from other people and ancient sages, such as the Buddha, Confucius, Jesus etc.

Getting feedbacks

Some decisions take a long time to get feedbacks, such as getting a particular job. The effect or feedbacks take a long time to surface. According Aristotle, we should forget the the experience that require immediate feedback and learn fundamentals knowledge and methodologies. The effective way to learn those is to learn from others. Anyone knows something we don’t know is our teacher.
